What’s Inside

It’s a collection of memories I’ve carried with me ever since we cast off in 2016, and I’m thrilled to finally share them with you in this eBook edition.

Shoestring Sailors – South Pacific Dream is the true story of low-cost cruising through one of the most beautiful oceans on Earth.

It’s the tale of a sailor (that’s me!) learning on the go.

This little book has been years in the making — captured between anchorages, shared meals with locals, unexpected storms, and moments of pure South Pacific magic. It’s a shoestring-budget adventure written straight from my heart to yours.

Growing up in a landlocked country, Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), I had only ever sailed once or twice on a Fireball dinghy. Before I met my partner Ken, I’d never even set foot on an ocean-going yacht. I was fascinated by the idea that one could actually live on board a yacht — and now I do!

Travel is wonderful… but distracting when you want to write a book!

I’ve been writing this book for so long that I even wrote a blog about the process, hoping to help other aspiring authors avoid some of the pitfalls I stumbled into:

The challenge? Over the years, we just kept travelling and exploring further — which made it tricky to stay focused on the book. But finally, it’s here!
